Basal Cell Carcinoma

BCC is the most common form of skin cancer. It is curable if treated early. The location of the lesion as well as the size and specific type of BCC will determine the best treatment. At Eternal Dermatology, we strongly recommend full skin exams to diagnose skin cancer as soon as possible.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

After BCC, SCC is the second most common type of skin cancer. Lesions should be treated as soon as possible, as there is an increased risk that the cancer may spread to other body areas. Treatment depends on the body location and type of SCC.

Melanoma

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Risk factors for melanoma include light skin and  having severe sunburns during childhood. Having a family member, like a parent or sibling with melanoma also increases your risk for melanoma. If you’re at risk, it’s even more important that you get a skin exam at least once a year.

Actinic Keratosis

Actinic keratoses are pre -cancerous growths. They show up on areas of the skin that have the most sun exposure. Like the face, neck , ears and arms. They often manifest as red scaly spots that are often better felt than seen. As about 10% of these can change into squamous cell carcinoma, they should get treated. Treatment options include freezing with liquid nitrogen and prescription creams.

Mole Check & Mole Removal

If you have many moles, or are at risk for skin cancer, you should have a full body skin check performed by a board-certified dermatologist at least once a year.

While moles are very common, some can become large and unsightly. They may ruin your complexion by giving you the appearance of a bumpy, uneven skin tone and others may develop into skin cancer. Getting your moles checked can provide you with answers about the health of your skin and mole removal options.
