11 Lunchtime Cosmetic Procedures
Ever heard of Lunchtime Cosmetic Procedures?
It’s lunchtime. That’s when we heat up our meal-prepped lunches or hit the food truck line. It’s when we’re not sure what to eat so we settle on the same thing we get all the time. But lunchtime isn’t exactly “lunch time” for some people. It’s some personal time to hit the bank, pay some bills, or connect with an old friend. What we’ve noticed is that more and more people take their lunch hour to take care of themselves and their skin. These are quick treatments your dermatologist can handle in time for you to get back into the office. More importantly, these lunchtime cosmetic procedures have long-term benefits for your skin’s health, appearance, and wellbeing. Also, there’s little to no downtime so you can get right back to work. If you’re in for a fast, effective treatment at the expense of forgoing your favorite tacos, look no further than these top lunchtime cosmetic procedures.
2. LaseMD Laser
This laser is great for all skin types and has little to no downtime. Our “LaseMD Glow”: treatment gently turns over the top layers of the skin to treat dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and uneven tone and texture. In our “LaseMD Enhance” treatment, the laser creates micro-channels in your skin to allow better penetration of you skin care products. We also do this on the scalp to increase the effectiveness of hair restoration treatments.
Botox is a cosmetic injection that weakens the muscles in your face that cause fine lines, wrinkles and signs of aging. It is a quick procedure with no downtime. You many have a few bumps at the injection site, which quickly subside- usually in less than an hour, so you can go right back to work. Botox can also be preventative. This means that if you start using it in your 20s, 30s or 40s- before the lines have set in, then you can prevent the wrinkles from forming altogether.
4. Chemical Peels
Chemical peels have been around for ages. The process involves a solution of alpha and beta hydroxy acids that are applied to clean skin with a cotton pad or light brush. Over the next few days, it causers the dead surface cells to turn over and peel off. Much like microdermabrasion, chemical peels exfoliate your skin. There are various strengths of chemical peels, and our signature “Eternal Glow Peel,” often referred to as the “lunchtime peel,” is the most gentle, and ideal for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. It is an effective method of rejuvenating your skin without a large investment of time. If you have a big event coming up, an Eternal Glow Peel a day prior will have you “red-carpet ready.”
Deeper peels, however, take much longer as they affect the middle and deeper layers of skin. So for a quick, effective procedure, superficial peels work best. Superficial peels that are commonly performed contain natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), such as lactic, glycolic, and malic and mandelic acids. The peeling solution is applied to clean, dry skin with a brush or sponge, left on to penetrate for about 15 minutes, then removed with water. As the dead skin cells peel away, you see smoother skin that is revitalized and radiant. In addition, the peel stimulates the production of collagen and elastin thus reducing fine lines, acne scars, and skin discoloration.
5. Laser Genesis
Dermatologists use lasers to remove hair, spots, and scars on the skin. However, lasergenesis is a more gentle, effective way to improve your skin’s tone and texture. It sends light and heat energy to the collagen layer of the skin. The skin responds with collagen production and increased blood flow. Our gentle and non-invasive Laser Genesis treatment reduces acne, scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles. The procedure also improves the overall appearance of your skin.
During the treatment, as we wave the laser hand-piece over your skin, you will feel a gradual warming sensation. It is pleasant and soothing, much like warm sunlight on your face. The heat from the laser kills bacteria on the skin and within the hair follicles, diminishing active acne, and preventing future breakouts. The heat also stimulates collagen production that heals scars and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin is firmer and more youthful-looking and feeling—all without any downtime. Your skin will have a refreshed glow in less than an hour.
6. Laser Hair Removal
In darker skin types, we call this “laser hair reduction” as the hair is not permanently gone. We recommend a series of 6 treatments spaced a month apart. With each treatment, the hairs get finer and thinner and grow back more slowly. They may even appear to be completely gone. But over time, (many months or years) tiny hairs may slowly creep back up. At that time, you can do an individual “touch up” treatment to maintain the results. We do all areas, including face, armputs, back, bikini , brazilian and legs.
7. Cortisone Injections
Whether one pimple rears its ugly head or there is a full-fledged breakout, your upcoming first date or job interview can suffer —solely due to your self-consciousness. A cortisone injection during your lunch hour is the quickest and most effective way to calm down the inflammation.
Cortisone injections reduce inflammation, swelling, and is especially useful for patients who don’t respond to conventional acne treatment. Your dermatologist will inject a small amount of corticosteroid directly into the acne nodule. While some topical treatments and antibiotics take weeks, a steroid injection can clear you up in just a couple of days. Note that you must wait at least 6 weeks between injections at the same spot.
8. Radiesse Hand Filler
No matter how youthful your face, your hands can give away your age—or make you look older. As we age, the skin on the back of our hands becomes thinner and tendons, veins, and bones become more visible. And all those decades of sun exposure leave behind ugly flecks of brown spots.
Radiesse injections are fillers that seek to help with thin-looking skin and appearance on our hands. The injections are simple, painless, and involve no downtime. This dermal filler contains tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel. We inject the gel under the skin with a small needle and gently massaged for even distribution. Instantly, the back of your hands are “plumped up” and supple so that the tendons and veins are no longer prominent. The body eventually absorbs the gel, metabolizes the microspheres, and produces more of its natural collagen to keep the hands looking youthful.
This is a safe, quick procedure with minimal side effects. It’s also one of the fastest lunchtime cosmetic procedures – about 15 minutes, tops. You’ll see results immediately, and they can last up to two years or more.
Microneedling is also known as “collagen induction therapy.” It uses a handheld device with microscopic needles that gently puncture the surface of your skin to stimulate fresh new collagen production. This is great for enlarged pores, acne scars, and brightens a dull complexion. We adjust the depth of the needles and the intensity of your treatment to your specific needs.
10. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
In the PRP procedure, we draw your blood, centrifuge it and take out the platelets and growth factors. These are then injected back into your scalp to stimulate hair regrowth. For best results, we recommend a series of 4 treatments spaced a month apart.
11. Keravive Scalp Treatment
This exfoliating scalp treatment is performed by our aesthetician, Freida. It removed dead skin cells, as well as product buildup and gunk from your scalp, so that any medications that you use on your scalp can penetrate more effectively. In this procedure we also infuse stimulating growth factors into your scalp.
